Aloo ka raita is prepared with curd and boiled potato. Potatoes are high in carbohydrates which is a essential component of daily diet. Potatoes when consumed without fats and boiled are good for health. Aloo ka raita however not so common but is a very nice side dish for your lunch. Particularly this raita is prepared during fasts/vrat. It sounds unusual but is pretty good in taste and as for me, I am a potato fan and can have it in almost any form. If you have potatoes already boiled, it takes only 2-3 minutes to prepare it. It goes perfectly with kuttu, rajgira or singhara paranthas, sama k pulao or khichdi. So lets start with the recipe.
Recipe Type: Raita, vrat recipe
Cuisine: North Indian
Time: 15 min
Serves: 2
Ingredients
1/2 cup Boiled mashed potato (roughly mashed)
1 cup Curd
1/4tsp Salt/ rock salt (Sendha namak)
1/4tsp Black salt (optional)
1/4tsp Black Pepper
1/4tsp Roasted ground cumin powder (Bhuna pisa zeera)
Method (Step by step aloo ka raita recipe)
- Take curd in a big bowl and add 1 cup water and whisk it till smooth with the help of a beater or blender. Then add spices and again whisk a little, add potatoes and mix well with spoon.
2. Don’t worry if raita is thin, after 10-15 min., potatoes will soak curd and it will become thick. Garnish with mint shrub and Serve with any vrat dish or roti as a side dish.
Notes:
- You can add pomegranate seeds and chopped coriander to make it even more tasty and healthy.
- Make this raita smooth by crushing it in mixer and use it as a dip for vrat snacks like kuttu k pakodas.
Yum
